Russian Fans Told To Drink Whisky To Beat H1N1

Russian health authorities have issued a travel advisory warning the public against travelling to Britain because of the spread of the H1N1 virus. Several hundred Russian soccer fans are expected to go to Wales for the September 9 qualifier in Cardiff, regardless of the public health announcement.

“We urge our fans to drink a lot of Welsh whisky as a form of disinfection,” said VOB head Alexander Shprygin. For those of you not familiar with the Russian culture, drinking is not something that usually requires much peer pressure in Russia. Though the usual drink of choice is vodka, whisky is also 40% and both can be used as dis-infectants.

“Russian fans don’t fear anything or anybody so this virus will not stand in our way of supporting our team.” They don’t fear anything, except sobriety lest they realize their lives have not gotten better in the last 2o years.

Will gargling with hard liquor really kill the H1N1 virus? Who knows. Only one thing is for sure though; U.K. authorities will have a few hundred drunk Russians on their hands. The U.K. is already infamous for drunken soccer brawls, and is probably has the most thuggish fan base. I have faith, that my fellow Russians can show em how it’s done.
