Software Update Unable to Connect – OS X

Unable to connect to Software Update or iTunes Store. I get this error a lot when I’m at home, using my wireless for some reason. I’ve researched several solutions, and oddly enough the most consistent fix is to simply load up Safari or Firefox and visit apple.com. The error is linked to a DNS that is unable to resolve correctly. When your browser loads apple.com the issue resolves itself.

If anyone has come up with a more permament solution, please share!

N.B. If you are receiving an “unkown error (5002)” when trying to update all applications for the iPhone, the solution is to download each update individually. For some reason, clicking the Update All button doesn’t always work.
